A little about me...
I am friendly, polite, cautious and reserved at times and can be overly serious. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and also enjoy spending time alone. I have several solitary hobbies that may make a dependent or clingy person uncomfortable, but also have no difficulty with shared activities and learning new things that a partner may be passionate or curious about. It also means that I am comfortable with someone whose interests aren't in lockstep with my own. It's important to me that my partner be intelligent, with a good sense of humor, genuinely kind and considerate of me and others. I love children, mine and yours, and only like the type of drama that's on stage, screen or a good novel.
And I added the comment about my hair because I don't want to mislead anyone. I cut my hair very short about 2-3 months ago and decided (maybe) to let it grow back out. Everyone asks and there are many men who want a woman's hair to be long. As soon as I have time, I will update the picture to reflect the new haircut, and the current photo was taken in 2008. I am an assertive, not aggressive woman, and would like someone who is comfortable with that.

What are you looking for in a partner?
Smoking is a deal breaker for me and I am not interested in a casual relationship. Friendship is fine but I do not wish to correspond with anyone who is in a relationship with someone or is married.

I'd just like to add...
I love to travel, read, play golf (sorry guys, my handicap is awful!), going to the beach, spending time with friends, meditation, crafts, cooking, dining out and was surprised recently to discover that I like fishing. I also enjoy dancing (always) and working out (most of the time) and love it most when dance is my workout. I practice Isha yoga and spent a month in India this year. I take Pilates regularly and take other classes frequently. I have a dog and like cats, jazz, R&B and classical music especially flute and harp, play jazz and classical flute (better than my golf game), like to sew and make jewelry. I enjoy learning new things and am very open-minded. I love to read science fiction, fantasy and some action novels and my choices in movies are the same, just add comedies and I'm good.
